Missy Franklin Goes Pro!

Missy Franklin made her debut at the 2012 London Olympics at age 17 winning 5 medals (4 gold).

Today, at age 19, has officially gone professional  in her swimming career. As of March 2015 she has signed with the agency, WME-IMG, with Mark Ervin as her agent. Under this agency she will now be able to gain money from her competitions and endorsements and officially make swimming a career for her. Even before high school ended for her, during her senior year she said that she only planned on swimming for two seasons for the California Golden Bears. Franklin explained that money wasn't the main focus of this partnership but that it would allow her to help and inspire the swimming community.

I am so excited to see Missy grow in her swimming career, it is truly inspiring that at her age she is already considered a professional in the ranks of Michael Phelps, Ryan Lochte, Matt Grevers. With her success in freestyle and backstroke there is no doubt that she will be dominating the world stage in events such as Pan Pacs, Phillips 66 Nats, Arena Pro Series and the Olympics in Rio in 2016. I have no doubt that she will be able to break her records with amazing swims in the future of her swimming career. Go Missy!

Hello, First Things First: Delgado Means Skinny in English.

The internet is a marvelous thing, you can view e-mails from people across the globe sitting across another screen, message your friends, play games, watch movies, buy things, write things, laugh at things, do... things, but most importantly; you can can look at this blog. Hello, my name is Irving Delgado-Arellanes. Yes I have two last names and no I don't have a middle name, why you ask? Well my little friend across screen I am from Mexico. Born, Raised, Lived, Loved, and probably would die in Mexico. I moved to the United States when I was 12 because my dad's company, Lala - the biggest dairy company in Latin America - decided to move my dad into the heart of the U.S., Nebraska. I moved here along with my mother and sister, we have been living here for 5 years going on 6. Now you know why I'm here.

No I don't play soccer, no I do not find tacos to be the thing that sits on my plate every night, I lost my most of my tan, I am taller than the average 17 year old here measuring 6'3, and I don't listen to music in Spanish. I find that many people that meet me don't believe me when I tell them this, I occasionally get the ignorant response of "But you're not short, fat, and brown!". So yes, I don't fit society's insolent stereotypes and I wont let them define me. Either way, I will tell you what DOES define me: I love swimming, I swim for Creighton Prep and in the "off-season" I swim for my club Omaha Swim Federation; I love making art, mostly visual art ranging from all the shades of graphites and charcoal to acrylic and oil paint; and I love making music, I play the drums for a band that some of my friends and I got together and guitar in my free time of music making.
When I'm not in the water swimming laps and obliterating my body from all the workouts that my coach makes my team do, playing drums or guitar, or drawing in my sketchbook, you can find me in the fridge ravaging through the food and watching T.V. shows on Netflix.

I have not travelled that much if going back and forth form the U.S. to Mexico isn't considered traveling, although I do enjoy spending my vacation and breaks at the beautiful and vast Mexican beaches of Cancun and Puerto Vallarta. I am, however, ready for the Paris and Spain trip I will be taking early on in the summer.

For me, music is a break-it-or-make-it deal when making new relationships with people. If I were to generalize my taste of music it would be Indie-Rock and some of my favorite bands are Arctic Monkeys, Coldplay, The Strokes, Bad Suns, Tokyo Police Club, Foster the People, Cage the Elephant and more of the sort. Since I am a musician I deeply enjoy playing some of the songs from these various artists and bands.

Thank you for reading this first post, you keep doing you, unless you're a murderer, then you should definitely change. Ciao.
